Fishing On The Mississippi River In Little Falls

The Minnesota city of Little Falls is known for its history and charming downtown, but it also offers a great destination for outdoor recreation, including many places to cast a line and enjoy a day of fishing. Little Falls features many parks right in the heart of the city along the Mississippi River where fishermen can cast their lines from the banks. There are also a couple of boat ramps along the river that allow for fishing on the open waters of the Mississippi, plus a few nearby lakes. Belle Prairie County Park

Bordering the Mississippi River, Belle Prairie is a county park in the northeastern part of Little Falls. The park has a boat landing and parking for fishermen who wish to head out onto the Mississippi. But there is also access to fish from the river banks. Commonly found fish in this area of the river include Smallmouth bass, catfish, Rockbass, walleyes, and perch. This is a Little Falls park to go to if you’re fishing with kids, as there are also hiking trails, picnic shelters, a playground, restrooms, and a scenic overlook.

Charles A. Lindbergh State Park

Another Little Falls park located right on the Mississippi River, Charles A. Lindbergh State Park gives fishermen access to fishing on the river, whether from the banks or out on the water in a boat. This area of the Mississippi, from Little Falls to St. Cloud, is recognized for its relatively shallow riffles that retain large quantities of food for various species of fish. This area is especially good for smallmouth bass and walleye, and the local fishermen consider the fishing for these species to be excellent within the state park. The park also features hiking trails, a picnic area, and the opportunity to canoe Pike Creek.

Mill Park

Once the location of the Hennepin Paper Company, the company that made the paper found around Crayola Crayons, Mill Park is now a great historical site and fishing area. The park has walking paths that you can follow through the site and learn about the history of the paper mill. Along the paths, fishermen can also find some great fishing spots on the Mississippi River. Mill Park is a great place to take in some great views of the river while casting a line and enjoying the Little Falls area.

Le Bourget Park

A final place along the Mississippi River for fishing in Little Falls is Le Bourget Park. Located in the heart of the city, this park has a lot to offer including scenic spots for a picnic, walking trails, a kiosk with historical information, and a garden area. The park is also a place for fishermen. There is a boat ramp where fishermen can put their boats in to go out on the Mississippi River, or they can try their hand at fishing from the river banks. If you’re staying in Little Falls, you won’t have to travel too far to get access to the Mississippi and there are plenty of local places and people who can help guide you on your fishing adventures.
